Alison Ann Sweeney was born on September 19, 1976 in the city of stars, Los Angeles, California. She gained a large following after her long tenure on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Alison Sweeney has been rooted in the television and entertainment industry from a very early age.
At the age of five, Sweeney appeared in a Kodak advertisement, and this was the beginning of her affection for the television screen. This first appearance spurred her desire to become an actress, and this dream was partially realized at the young age of ten. Sweeney received a part on the show Tales from the Darkside for an episode, playing a young girl who could sense when others were going to die. A fun piece of trivia; Alison loves when fans recognize her from that episode as she feels it is one of her favorite works.
Sweeney's big break came on January 22, 1993 when she landed the role of Samantha "Sami" Gene Brady on the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives. This was a great accomplishment for Sweeney, since she used to watch the show and was a big fan; and now would be playing a role on it. Sweeney became a very visible character for the series, and achieved nationwide renown from television viewers.
In the midst of all this success, Alison Sweeney felt she was missing an element of professionalism and status. Sweeney decided she needed to pursue an education to become a well-rounded person, and have something to treasure forever. She took night classes at UCLA to finish an undergraduate degree in business.
Her success on Days of Our Lives was partially counter-balanced with her personal struggles with weight. Alison Sweeney, at one point, wore a size 12 dress (by actress' standards, large); she wrote a book, "All the Days of My Life (So Far)," which chronicled her life and its ups and downs.
The book and the profile of Sweeney developed through years on Days of Our Lives served as the motivation for her next role. She took over hosting duties for the television game show, The Biggest Loser, in 2007. All the success that Alison Sweeney achieved in her life can be attributed to a few key elements. The talent, dedication, and education that Sweeney possessed allowed her to achieve her dreams, just as a college degree can do.
