North Central Association of Colleges and Schools

The North Central Association, founded in 1895, has jurisdiction over more than ten thousand educational institutions serving nineteen states. It is divided into two Commissions: the Higher Learning Commission overseeing colleges and universities and the Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement which accredits a variety of schools, ranging from nursery to vocational to college prep.

In 2006, NCA CASI merged with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools CASI and the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) to form the organization called AdvancED.
