Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools

If you are interested in a career in the medical field, there are a number of attractive possibilities which do not involve ten years of education and specialization. You can find work in the rapidly growing health sector by getting the right qualifications. A large number of jobs in the field can be accessed with the right training. But it is vital to ensure that you don’t waste your time and money on a program that won’t do you any good. A little extra research now may save you much grief down the road.

The health sector of the economy is one of the few expected to grow over the next decade. As the population ages, more jobs will become available in this area. Here are some specific jobs in the field that you might consider: medical assistant, dental assistant, pharmacy technician, surgical assistant, nurse, radiation technologist, massage therapist and many more.

The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) was established in 1981 and is based in Falls Church, Virginia. Some of the other National Accrediting bodies govern schools and programs in the health sector, but the ABHES is the only one dedicated to this field.

This National Accrediting agency is not affiliated with or related to any trade or membership organization. It is recognized by the American Medical Technologists, National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, American Association of Medical Assistants, and the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools is recognized by the United States Department of Education. It is authorized to certify programs leading to a certificate, diploma, Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Occupational Science or Academic Associate degree. To see if your chosen school or program is accredited, check the list of courses and institutions on the ABHE website listed below.
