Taking Trips Away from College

The college or university experience is one which is filled with a number of different sensations and events. From learning a variety of new concepts to building social relationships with other people, there are a lot of stressful factors to maintaining a successful college experience. Studying for your huge final exam in biology can seem like an exercise in keeping your sanity. Dealing with the drama of Sarah from next door complaining about your loud music can tax your nerves incessantly. Obviously, the college or university experience is not all negative and the positives generally outweigh the unpleasant scenarios. This does not mean, however, that there are not any stressful times.

Combating Stress in College

Given that there are stresses that are encountered in everyone's college career, there are also ways to deal with them. It is important to find some time just to relax. If you are feeling particularly strung out, just get away from whatever is bothering you and participate in an activity that interests you. For me personally, when I get stressed out, I head to the gym and play some basketball for a few hours to take the edge off. It is important that you find something that calms you down if you are feeling nervous and make time to do that activity when necessary. Another way to relieve stress or the general feelings of stress from school is to take a trip away from your college or university, generally with friends. This will give you some downtime without worrying about your studies.

Weekend Trips during the Semester

During the semester you can take short weekend trips to whatever destination tickles your fancy. In the winter time, you can venture to a ski resort for a day or two of skiing or snowboarding. During the summer, you can spend a weekend at the beach soaking up the sun and enjoying the water. No matter what you do, make sure that it is something that interests you and will alleviate your stress or boredom from the daily grind of attending college or university. Bring friends with you to increase your fun as it is always better to spend your time with others socializing rather than alone.

Longer Vacations during Breaks

It can be a great idea to use the time off during breaks in semesters or holidays to take a vacation for an extended period of time somewhere. Some of these are some good ideas for different travel personalities:
• Florida - This state has some of the most gorgeous beaches in the United States. It has everything for everyone. Everglades National Park is an excellent place for nature lovers to see some beautiful landscapes and interesting wildlife. Miami has some of the best nightlife in America, albeit the priciest too. Orlando is home to the largest vacation resort in the world (Walt Disney World).
• New York - If you do not live on the east coast and cannot see New York City often, you should definitely take the opportunity to do so. There are so many different sights to see in the city that a week would not be enough for all of it.
